This is Save the Children office in Amman, Jordan. We have continued our connection with the staff here following the training workshop we held on music therapy in a refugee context. During the workshop we trained the teachers who work on a daily basis with children from war-weary backgrounds, suffering from the confusion and the anger of war. The staff work full-time with new influxes of refugees and they themselves benefited from the knowledge that music can calm and heal in a stressful work environment. Our training continues with meetings by skype and in person with individual teachers. We recently gave another donation of instruments to the teachers to distribute amongst their students in the camps. We are organising a similar training session to take place in Amman and are fund-raising to purchase more instruments to donate to the children in these camps. This effective use of resources and training materials ensures that the donations meet the target known to NGOs on the ground.
