Find your voice

Launching a new initiative for teenage girls

Through music we aim to encourage teenage refugee girls to “find your voice”, helping them overcome challenges from exploitation and human trafficking leading to positive empowerment for the future.

It is estimated that around half of the 21 million refugees worldwide are women. These teenage girls and women often find themselves separated from their families and homes and can face many challenges from exploitation, health complications and inequality.
We find that the teenage girls we work with are faced with a rise of sexual and gender-based violence and their voice and participation in society is frequently constrained.
That is why we have started our new project “Find your voice”. Through singing workshops, we encourage the teenage girls to voice their concerns and become aware of their challenges and then to channel this energy, innovation and cultural diversity, into positive opportunities for change. We encourage them to “find your voice” in a society which is foreign to them and to gain greater control over their lives and futures. These teenage girls are the future generation and as refugees they may be protecting and providing for their families alongside finding ways to earn and increase the family income.
This is a very stressful and traumatic situation for many of these girls and we aim to give them an outlet to “find your voice” and become a confident young women of the future.

Let us work together to protect and empower all women and girls on the move
